MAYII is a creative approach in the design and production of collectible blind box toys. In competing with the existing market blind box POP MART. The project aims to create unique and visually captivating characters that resonate with collectors and enthusiasts of all ages. For my latest project, MAYII approached us to develop a blind box character design named "MAYII."
The primary goal of this project was to design a visually appealing and highly collectible blind box character that embodies the spirit of MAYII's brand identity. The character needed to have a strong presence, evoke emotional connections, and contribute to the excitement of unboxing for customers.
Design Concept
The concept for the MAYII blind box character design was rooted in blending fantasy and reality. The character was envisioned as a mystical guardian of dreams, a creature that traverses the realms of imagination. The design aimed to capture a sense of wonder, curiosity, and magic that resonates with both children and adults. With the idea of reminding the ICE age and extinct species around the Antarctic pole. Further express the importance of environmental protection and global warming may causes new extinction in current species.
Texture and Materials: The character's body is adorned with a mix of textures, combining plastic surfaces with delicate fluffy and plush details. This tactile variety adds depth and richness to the character's design.
Symbolism: MAYII's eyes, despite being glass and transparent flat representation, hold a sense of candy and stain glass, where the audience can find numerous element in the eye. The glass eyes symbolises the character's connection to unseen realms and its ability to see beyond the ordinary.
Color Palette
The color palette was carefully selected to evoke emotions of enchantment and intrigue. Light, rich tones like Blueberry Bliss Blue, Lemon Sorbet Yellow, and Cotton Candy Pink are accented by candy color and blues, creating a sense of otherworldly beauty.
